Zing Bars Review

Hello everyone! I am very excited to publish my first product review on the blog, this will be the first of many.  My goal is to provide my readers with honest and reliable product reviews to help you find quality foods to fuel your lives.  All of these products have been sent to me by the company for review, so I will have a variety of different goods to review.

Yesterday I recieved a package from Zing Bars. They sent me a variety of different bars to try from their Chocolate Covered, Soft Cookie, and Nut Butter & Fruit lines.  The bars came in a little green box with pens, a paper with nutrition information, and coupons for future purchases.

The box had six flavors: Dark Chocolate Mint, Dark Chocolate Coconut, Coconut Cashew Crisp, Almond Blueberry, Dark Chocolate Mocha, and Lemon Cashew Crunch.

I sampled all of the bars, and overall I was very impressed.  Overall, all of the bars had very natural flavors and there was no “chalky” taste that is sometimes found in protein bars.  Each bar is filled with protein, fiber, and slow burning low-glycemic carbs to provide lasting energy.  I took notes on each product individually, so I will provide individual reviews of each bar within each category.

The first Zing Bar category that I sampled from was the Chocolate Covered.  These bars are dipped in delicious, antioxidant-rich Peruvian dark chocolate.  These bars are vegan and contain plant-based protein.  The first bar that I tried was the Dark Chocolate Mint.

This flavor was amazing.  In my opinion, it tasted just like a York Peppermint Patty.  I first noticed the cool mint flavor.  It wasn’t an overwhelming amount of mint, just enough to balance with the chocolate.  I could tell this was real mint too, the kind that makes your whole mouth feel cool when you take a breath.  The texture was great, the bar was chewy with crispy bits throughout.  There was a perfect amount of chocolate that melted in your mouth with every bite.

The next flavor that I reviewed from the Chocolate Covered line was the Dark Chocolate Coconut.  The Zing Bars website said that this is their most popular flavor, and I can see why.

Filled with almonds and coconut, I immediately tasted a variety of flavors on my first bite.  The coconut flavor was the most prominent, but I do wish that I could taste more of the almonds.  The brown rice crisps provide an extra crunch throughout the bar, and the dark chocolate melts in your mouth just like the Dark Chocolate Mint bar.  Coconut is one of my favorite flavors, and this bar did it justice.

The last bar that I sampled from the Chocolate Covered line was the Dark Chocolate Mocha.

I do not drink coffee, so this bar would not be one that I would purchase for myself, but I can say that the flavor was not overwhelming like many mocha-flavored products are.  This bar is made with sunflower butter blended with coffee extract and covered with the signature dark chocolate.  This bar is free from the top 8 allergens, making it a perfect choice for coffee lovers with any of these allergies.  I do not like coffee flavor, but I can say that the texture is fantastic and the taste is exactly the same as coffee from a mug.

The next category I sampled from was the Soft Cookie category.  These bars are described as “moist and chewy with chunks of nuts, chocolate chips, or quinoa crisps”.  They are filled with protein, fiber, and other wholesome ingredients.

Zing Bars sent me the Coconut Cashew Crisp bar to sample from this category.

This bar was true to its description, the texture was almost exactly like that of a soft cookie.  This bar is bursting with flavors of toasted coconut that provides a tropical crunch.  The coconut flavor is fantastic, evident in every bite.  Cashews are one of the main ingredients, but the taste of these nuts is slightly covered by the taste of the coconut.  I wish that the cashew taste was more prominent, but it does provide a creamy base.  The added brown rice crisps, pea protein crisps, and organic quinoa contribute to the overall texture.

The last category that Zing Bars sent me samples from is the Nut Butter and Fruit category.  These bars have real fruit blended with chunky nuts and creamy nut butters.  They provide nutritious benefits while satisfying savory and sweet cravings.

The first bar I sampled from this category was the Almond Blueberry bar.

This bar was my favorite, it was INCREDIBLE.  It tasted like a blueberry muffin in bar form. The flavors were perfectly balanced, I could taste every ingredient.  The bar was smooth, creamy, and chewy texture with crushed almonds to add a crunch.  I could taste the hint of vanilla in every bite, it was an excellent addition.  This bar contains whey protein, but you would never be able to tell from the taste.  This bar was amazing, and earns a 10/10 from me.

The last bar I received from Zing Bars was the Lemon Cashew Crunch bar.

This bar reminded me of a classic dessert: homemade lemon bars.  I could really taste the cashews in this bar, but I do wish that the lemon flavor was stronger.  The flavor is very light, but did taste very natural.  There are crunchy whey crisps throughout to add texture to the creamy cashew butter base.

Thank you for reading this review, I hope it was helpful.  Here is a link to the Zing Bars website, and once again I would like to thank them for generously sending me samples to review.
